• Continental Liqueurs 2002 Cocktail Challenge - National Final:
  - Dean Facchinei, Team Manager, Manuel David and Tony Niland took out the national final at the Sheraton Fiji. The other finalists were teams from the Tasmania, NSW and Victoria. Thursday 7 October 2002
  
• Continental Liqueurs 2002 Cocktail Challenge - State Final:
  - Dean Facchinei, Team Manager, Manuel David and Tony Niland took out the state final at the Sheraton Brisbane Hotel. The other finalists were teams from the Gold Coast, Brisbane/Sunshine Coast and the Whitsundays. Tony Niland scored the highest points in the competition and Manuel David came in with the second highest points. Monday 30 September 2002
  -  School Based Apprentice and Traineeships Awards: Samantha Aird was Runner Up for the School Based Apprentice of the Year 2002. Cairns International Hotel won the Best Large Employer Award. Sunday 22 September 2002
  
• Queensland Hotels Association 2002:
  - Shane Miller (Senior Chef de Partie, Kingsfords Restaurant) was awarded the Best Employee - Kitchen award at a gala dinner at Brisbane Convention Centre. Wednesday 18 September 2002.
  
• Continental Liqueurs 2002 Cocktail Challenge - 3rd Mix Off:
  - Dean Facchinei, Team Manager, Manuel David and Tony Niland won the 3rd cocktail mix-off at the Cairns International Hotel. Named Regional winners (for the 5th successive year) and will travel to Brisbane to represent the region on 30 September 2002. Cocktail names were “Frosty Bite” and “Simply Splashing”. Tony Niland was the highest scoring competitor over the 3 mix offs and Manuel David made the Best Cocktail. Tuesday 3 September 2002
  
• Continental Liqueurs 2002 Cocktail Challenge - 2nd Mix Off:
  - Dean Facchinei, Team, Manager, Manuel David and Tony Niland won the second cocktail mix-off at Rydges Reef Resort, Port Douglas. 23 July 2002 Restaurant & Catering Far North Queensland Awards for Excellence 2002: Entered 3 restaurants being Kingsfords, Coco’s Restaurant and Yamagen restaurants. Judges criteria was on the food and service provided, taking into account décor and ambience of restaurant. Sofitel Reef Casino Ballroom Monday 24 June 2002. We were awarded the following:
  -  Fine Dining award - Kingsfords
  -  Seafood Restaurant award - Coco’s Restaurant
  -  Asian Restaurant award - Yamagen
  
• Queensland Schoolbased Apprenticeship:
  - Samantha Aird, one of our schoolbased trainees, chosen as a state finalist within the category of schoolbased trainee (within the top 3). Awards Ceremony at the Cairns Convention Centre 28 June 2002. Wednesday 5 June 2002.
