The iconic Cairns International Hotel was recently rebranded as The Sebel Cairns and has completed a $3 million soft refurbishment of the hotel’s lobby, Coco’s Restaurant, Lobby Bar, and Porte Cochere; as well as a comprehensive refurbishment of the hotel’s pool deck that has enhanced the hotel’s already award-winning status, delivering the ultimate luxurious and serene Tropical North Queensland travel experience for guests.

The contemporary charm of The Sebel Cairns’ well renowned lobby has received an innovative interior transformation with a highly modern, contemporary look and feel showcasing brightly coloured new lounge furniture in hot fuchsia pinks inspired by the brilliant colours of tropical flowers seen throughout Tropical North Queensland.

The furnishing textures and colour palettes have been complemented by floral embossed designer rugs highlighting colours of coco, teal, aquamarine, lagoon and azure that represent the clear waters of North Queensland’s Coral Sea. The installation of a gorgeous ‘Mother of Pearl’ chandelier, complemented by a combination of new and antique furniture, creates intimate spaces within the hotel’s grand reception.

This refreshing and crisp new look is enhanced by freshly painted crisp white interior walls, columns and ceiling contrasted against the freestanding, decorative planter boxes and lounge-bench that encapsulate the contemporary tropical tones of this new look.

Carpets and furniture on levels 1 and 2 of the hotel have been replaced with the same contemporary style, look and feel.

Director of Sales at The Sebel Cairns, Pauline Wagner-Carden, said the hotel’s soft refurbishments have delivered a new standard of luxury experience for hotel guests.

“The hotel’s $3 million investment in soft refurbishments in the hotel’s foyer, Lobby Bar, Coco’s Restaurant and levels 1 and 2 has helped to enhance the hotel’s point of difference and maintain our edge in the competitive 5-star market,” Ms Wagner-Carden said.

Coco’s Restaurant and the Lobby Bar’s furniture and flooring have also been replaced with new generation design floor coverings and new natural oak timber furniture to create a new modern edge to the hotel’s award winning dining area.

In addition, the hotel’s Porte Cochere entrance has been refreshed with the exterior façade, repainted vivid white and enhanced with luxurious shades of white, ebony and caramel stripped upholstery featured on the new bench seating and Cosmo double sofa, giving guests the opportunity to relax before embarking on the day’s activities.

The hotel’s pool deck has received a comprehensive refurbishment complete with new waterline tiles and flush new spotted gum timber decking.  New pool furniture including tables and chairs, and banana lounges; as well as timber pavilions with sail roofs, housing ‘day beds’, surround the pool to capture the essence of this serene and leisurely area in the hotel.

Located on Level 2 of The Sebel Cairns, the spectacular re-launched spa facility, Mii Spa promotes a philosophy of 'wellness and lifestyle' to its guests.

Mii Spa offers ten treatment rooms including a couple’s suite, a vichy shower, a dedicated manicure and pedicure room for up to six people and a tranquil Relaxation Sanctuary, where guests can rest after their treatment.
